HCPA offers a summer Algebra I Immersion program to assist our incoming freshmen. Becoming acclimated to a new school with new teachers and a challenging curriculum can be daunting for incoming freshmen. Our students come from many different areas having varied levels of Algebra preparedness. As such, we feel it is important to offer our students some program to assist them in the area of mathematics.
Session I: July 7-9, 2020 (Classes run 10am-12pm each day)
Session II: July 21-23, 2020 (Classes run 10am-12pm each day)
Students will be given an initial assessment to determine precisely where they need assistance. A variety of teaching strategies will be used and the pace of the class will be determined by the needs of the students. Quizzes and tests will be given but no grades will be recorded. Students will use the assessments to identify areas in which they are successful as well as areas that need improvement.
All incoming freshmen are invited to attend. We highly recommend the course to those students with no Algebra I background or low standardized test scores in mathematics.
At the conclusion of the class, the students will be mentored throughout their freshmen year to keep them on track and improving. Study sessions will be offered and tutoring will be made available for anyone who needs it. We believe that this gives our new students many opportunities to succeed.
Due to COVID-19, we are offering this class at a reduced cost of $120 for Summer 2020. Please complete the registration form below to sign up. Registrations can be mailed or dropped off at our Main Office. Summer office hours are Monday-Thursday from 9am-1pm.
