Publication of Obituary Information

The Office of Institutional Advancement is responsible for maintaining and updating the database information of our community, including the reporting of death notices.

We find that the publication of these notices provides important information, and our community has been grateful for the opportunity to attend services and pass condolences to the family and friends.

These notices come to us from many sources, including alumni, class officers, family members, Holy Cross Prep staff and faculty, and returned mail. They also come in many forms - phone calls, letters, newspaper obituaries, notes on gift reply forms, surveys, etc.

For accuracy we do require verification, such as an obituary column or a letter from a family member, before publication and updating our database.

The announcements of the passing of members of the Holy Cross community are published by the Office of Institutional Advancement in newsletters and select social media sites.

Obituaries are published when the deceased was one of the following:

  • Any alumni of Holy Cross High School, Holy Cross Academy, or Holy Cross Preparatory Academy
  • Current or past faculty, administrator, or staff members
  • A longtime major donor whose giving has had/will continue to have a significant impact on campus.
