2019 Class Challenge
We are challenging each graduating class to raise $5,000 by 12/31/19!
Holy Cross Preparatory Academy and its Advancement program are at a very exciting moment in time. Holy Cross is re-establishing its position as the area’s most vibrant secondary educational institution. Advancement at Holy Cross now exists to support our school as it leads boldly into the future. By increasing awareness and giving to Holy Cross this holiday season, it will open the doors of opportunity for students, faculty, and staff. As the accomplishments in our first academic year as an independent Catholic high school indicated, we are placing our students first, elevating our faculty and the academic enterprise, creating modern, flexible learning environments, and emboldening our alumni outreach.
The beginning of the 2019-2020 school year saw the establishment of a STEM program tailored to our community known as “S.T.R.E.A.M”, Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. Last year’s Giving Tuesday campaign raised almost $24,000 in 24 hours which directly supported the establishment of our new S.T.R.E.A.M Program. This year, we are expanding our holiday giving period and announcing our 2019 Class Challenge. We are challenging each of our graduating classes to raise $5,000 by December 31st! The Class Challenge is an exciting way for our alumni to support their school and more importantly engage in a friendly competition! All gifts to support Holy Cross from October 23, 2019 to December 31, 2019, except event sponsorships, will count toward the challenge.
Send checks made payable to the ‘Lancer Fund’ at 5035 Route 130, Delran, NJ 08075
YOU CAN WIN!!
There are three ways to win – highest class giving percentage, the class with the highest number of donors, and the class with the most email addresses updated. Winners will be announced via social media and will be recognized at our 2020 Winter Festival featuring Jerry Blavat! In addition each winning class will be invited to celebrate as our guests at the Café Madison for a reception in their honor.
DID YOU KNOW?
If you’re 70 ½ or older you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) to Holy Cross that can be counted toward satisfying your required minimum distributions (RMDs) for the year, as long as certain rules are met. In addition to the benefits of giving to charity, a QCD excludes the amount donated from taxable income, which is unlike regular withdrawals from an IRA. Keeping your taxable income lower may reduce the impact to certain tax credits and deductions, including Social Security and Medicare. Also, QCDs don't require that you itemize, which due to the recent tax law changes, means you may decide to take advantage of the higher standard deduction, but still use a QCD for charitable giving.
This year’s Class Challenge initiative supports our greater vision, One Team-One Dream-One School. Holy Cross Advancement is fully committed to supporting this ambition but we need our Lancer Nation community to help get us there.
